On Friday, March 22nd, Vela's Concert Band B performed at the BISD Evaluation Festival held at the CAB Auditorium and was awarded a 1st Division rating by a panel of judges. This is the 2nd consecutive year that the band achieves the highest possible score.
On March 29th and April 5th, Vela's Concert Band A participated at the Harlingen CISD Band Festival and the 2018 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest, both held at the Harlingen CISD Performing Arts Center. We are pleased to announce that the students were awarded straight 1st Division ratings in both contests by all 10 judges. This is the 3rd consecutive year that Concert Band A earns this distinguished honor.
Mr. Sarmiento, Mr. Cantu and Mr. Garza would like to congratulate these hard working students on another amazing year. These young musicians have continued the Vela Band "Tradition of Excellence." The band directors would also like to thank the parents and Vela staff for their continued support. Go Vela Band!!!
