Join the Vela Band...11 Time State Finalist
On behalf of the Vela Eagle Band staff, we’d like to thank you and your son/daughter for your interest in the band program. We are excited and are looking forward to the new school year and we feel that your child will have a rewarding experience during their initial year in the Vela Band. During the 1st week of the school year, students will tryout on the instrument/s of their choice. The band directors will help guide your child to an instrument that will give them the highest possibility of success based on physical attributes and the student's choice. Within the 1st two weeks of the school year, we will be hosting a band instrument drive. Instrument companies from the RGV will be available to sell and rent new and used instruments. Rent-to-own plans generally run between $25-$40 a month depending on the instrument. Band directors will be available throughout the instrument drive to answer any questions you may have. The skills your child will learn in music will help them be successful on the stage, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives.
